Founder & CEO
Maria is the Founder & CEO of Mompreneur Showcase Group Inc. (aka Mompreneurs®) and its properties, including Mompreneurs® Momentum Enterprise of Canada, Mompreneur® Magazine, The Annual Mompreneur® Awards, and The Annual National Mompreneurs® Conference.
Maria grew up in the world of retail business, as one of four children to her entrepreneurial parents; her family has owned and operated La Rose Bakery in her hometown of Milton, Ontario since she was 2 years old. Some of her earliest entrepreneurial memories include standing on a milk crate and manning the cash register at the young age of 5, as well as running a Gelato Bar at the age of 14 with her sister Emily. There is no doubt in Maria’s mind that her early exposure to the life of an entrepreneur ultimately gave her the confidence to branch out on her own as an adult, and also guided her to make decisions that would lead to a balanced lifestyle for her family.
Maria earned her BA from The University of Guelph in 2002 with a focus on Languages and International Business, and her B.Ed. from Lakehead University in 2004. With a supportive husband, Maria left her teaching career to be at home with her two children, which led her back to her entrepreneurial roots as she did some freelance marketing. This spark was rekindled further when she began connecting with other moms and women who were also running their own businesses while keeping a grasp on family life. She found a common bond, and decided to form Mompreneurs® based on the premise that business and personal lives aren’t necessarily interchangeable, and that it is possible to have a successful business and a thriving family life without sacrificing one for the other.
She attributes every success to the unending support and encouragement she has received from her family, friends, and colleagues, and hopes to be an inspiration to her children while demonstrating what can be achieved when you have a passion for helping others and doing what you love. ^*
“Be real. Be yourself. Emulate the kind of person you hope your children will be.”
