Featured Member Event: American Sign Language Classes – London, ON
May 23 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Presented by Elite Mompreneur member Charlene Slaats-Gray:
In our American Sign Language classes we use the Signing Naturally curriculum that was originally developed at a California College. With this curriculum you will learn not only ASL but also valuable information to educate you on the Deaf culture so that you may have a better understanding of the culture and community as a whole.
Our qualified Deaf instructors have a “no-voice” teaching method, which affords you the opportunity to increase your awareness when signing. Also the no-voice method compiled with videotext, the workbook, games and more all play in important role in aiding your ability to retain the information in an enjoyable interactive manner. Additionally, we offer various levels of courses to suit your needs. As well as for you to continue your knowledge of ASL and learn from the beginning level through to the level conversational skills one would use in daily conversations.
If you have previous signing experience, send us an email and we would be happy to set you up for an assessment with one of our instructors. This will allow us to gauge your level of signing and advise best as to what level we feel you could comfortably begin with.
Please note that during class hours there is free evening parking nearby.
American Sign Language (ASL) is not only beneficial for communicating with the Deaf community but for most anyone who does not have a voice. In conjunction with offering our full ASL classes, we are passionate about offering a means of communication (through full ASL or ASL words) to those with, APHASIA, AUTISM CEREBRAL PALSY, and/or DOWN SYNDROME.
We also provide services to individuals, your workplace, seniors, educators, medics, schools and more.
If you know someone ,or are an individual, that would like to learn to communicate through signs but feel that full ASL isn’t a viable option for you (IE seniors homes), we have an excellent alternative for you! Please contact us about learning the basics to bridge your communication gap.
