What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
For over 30 years I worked for companies while striving to find that one purpose that touched my heart and gave more meaning in my life – that something that I knew I was put on this earth to do. When I was introduced to Enagic’s Kangen Water® and my life changed by changing my water, I knew this was too important to not share it with others. I had found my purpose and I was ready!
What’s the best part about owning your own business?
The best part about owning my own business is having the flexibility to be there for what is important in my life – especially my two amazing children! I also love the fact that I have met so many wonderful people that I would never have met and have had the privilege of witnessing the many health benefits they and their families are experiencing from Kangen Water®.
Can you describe a typical day?
My typical day starts with gratitude before my feet hit the floor; connect with family; hydrate and flush toxins with 2 Liters of Kangen Water®; stretch/exercise; make my fruit and veggie smoothie and read a few pages of a book or watch a short inspirational video (Mompreneurs’ on Mondays). Then I am ready to get to it! Review and tackle my daily goals – such as follow-up, check-in, prepare for a demonstration/talk, pour water for free trials, perform a demonstration, visit families/businesses, trip to our Mississauga office to pick up machines/supplies, installation, social media, friends, networking; listen to a DVD/CD/webinar to continually learn; walk in nature; family time, and continually hydrate. Repeat.
Who do you count on for help? Do you have a network of family that answer the call?
I have been very fortunate that my family were my first supporters when I embarked on this and they, along with close friends, have been there for me every step of the way with tremendous support. I also have a wonderful Enagic community which I refer to as my Kangen family, who are supportive 24/7. I can count on them all 100%!
Have you ever had to sacrifice something at home for work? Or vice versa?
For sure – on both sides. The mix of home and work is not always smooth sailing and finding that balance can sometimes be a challenge. At the end of the day, I prioritize based on what is most important in that situation and everything else falls into place.
What do you do on a day off? Do you even know what a day off is?
One day I realized that things had truly changed as I used to be able to for the most part shut things off in the evenings, weekends and vacations. Now that I am an entrepreneur, that doesn’t happen. But the funny thing is that I am so excited about what I do, that it is okay! This is where I am meant to be!
Are you active in your community? What does supporting local mean to you?
A sense of community has always been an important aspect for me as I believe that to have healthy, vibrant communities, involvement is necessary. I am a big supporter whether I am serving on school council, being active in our neighbourhood association, or supporting and participating in fundraisers or events. I am also very conscious of other businesses and strive to be there in support for others, where and as much as I can.
Name another entrepreneur who inspires you.
There are so many wonderful entrepreneurs that I have met along the way that have all inspired me! Each one brings a gift of themselves that speaks volumes about adversity, spirit, heart, belief, and perseverance. I have learned so much and gained an admiration and appreciation for all entrepreneurs.
What does the future look like for you and your business?
Exciting! I feel so blessed to be on this journey with other socially conscious entrepreneurs spreading Enagic’s Founder and CEO, Mr. Ohshiro’s message of compassion and true health around the world for our precious bodies and precious planet too. The amazing people I have met and the 100 plus families that I have had the honour of working with to incorporate this into their lives gives such joy to my heart. I am so excited for the future of meeting and helping others to bring health, vitality and peace into their lives! It is such a privilege!
Any tips for other women thinking of starting a business?
I believe it is so important to follow your heart and do what makes you happy. With that as a foundation you can overcome obstacles and achieve anything you set your mind to. Every person has a gift that they were put on this earth to do and living in that belief allows you to take the steps to be the best you can be through personal development and making a difference in this world. There are no limits – trust in yourself!
