In addition to consulting and coaching clients, she is a sought-after speaker for businesses, conferences and organizations. Every presentation or workshop is customized for the audience and covers such topics as communications, marketing, sales and customer experience.

What is your “WHY” behind your business/being an entrepreneur?
Helping entrepreneurs successfully market themselves effectively is what I find so rewarding about my career. I can feel the direct impact I make when the business owner is ignited and confident in their marketing messaging. I love ‘cracking them open’ to find their ‘why’ and their business distinctions and then packaging those in memorable messaging that is easy for them to deliver. I want to continue to grow my online school course offerings so I can help more business owners worldwide.

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
I became an entrepreneur to spend more time with my kids while they were young, but I also wanted to continue my thriving career. I decided to open my own marketing agency from the corner of my bedroom. I never would have imagined my award-winning agency’s first office door would be adorned with an In/Out sign made from crayons and stickers. My special little visitors knew that if the purple “Out” side was showing, they were not to come into Mommy’s office. Conversely, it was such a treat to turn the sign around and get a “kiss Mommy” break.

What’s the best part about owning your own business?
There are so many wonderful perks of owning my own business. Of course, the flexibility of my schedule is ideal as I can commit to my kids’ activities and special moments without explanation. I love living my passion everyday and challenging my results to create an even bigger impact and legacy. I work at a very effective, results oriented pace, so driving the direction of the business and my team is a responsibility I adore.

My mother was instrumental in my journey to entrepreneurship. Mom had stayed home with us four kids when we were in elementary school and then put herself back through school to open her own psychotherapy practice when we were teenagers. I saw her enjoy being a mom AND an entrepreneur and as a young child, I knew I would be running my own business someday. As my business evolved, I surrounded myself with other mompreneurs and successful business owners whose wisdom and support were fundamental to my success. Of course, my life partner, Kris, my two children, Lindsay and Jack and my sisters, Angie and Kathy are my biggest cheerleaders. Their unwavering encouragement motivates me to impact more people through my business.

What values do you believe in and live by, and how do they shine through when it comes to your role as a business owner?
The values I live inside and outside my business directly relate to my family and my desired impact in life. I live with a “Family First” motto. Family is the central support for my life and includes my business family, team, clients and partners. I value creativity and curiosity, teaching innovative ways to do things, looking for creative solutions and encouraging others to ask questions and listen effectively to deepen relationships. Communication is of course, a vital value in my life and business. Everyday I am honoured to live my passion to help people to communicate more effectively in their business and life.

What are you most proud of when it comes to your business/being an entrepreneur?
I am very proud of the immediate results I see my clients achieve when they implement their new marketing strategy or learn how to say what they do with distinction and confidence. I am proud that my online school provides affordable and immediate solutions for business owners worldwide who need professional marketing and communications expertise.

What does the future look like for you and your business?
I am excited for my future and every day I create and see movement towards my goals. Ideally, I can continue to help business owners to market and communicate themselves more effectively and my online Marketing & Communications Mastery School is a valuable tool for every entrepreneur. Through my speaking events and books, I hope to inspire and motivate others to succeed in their business and life.

“Success isn’t just what you accomplish in your life; it’s achieving what you desire and inspiring others to do the same in the process.” ~ Sandy Gerber

Any tips for women thinking of starting a business?
Whether you are thinking of creating a business or just starting, my advice is simple. Determine WHAT you deliver as products/services, HOW you uniquely deliver them and WHY what you do matters. Once these three pieces are identified, you can craft your message and confidently seek supporters and customers.
