What is your “WHY” behind your business/being an entrepreneur?
Well, the reason — the why behind my business, the why behind being an entrepreneur — is that I want the best lifestyle for my family and loved ones. I know what it feels like to get stuck and struggle hard with trying to juggle my family and career life. How hard it is to balance everything together, with the goals you would like to achieve. It really is not an easy task, and one thing, it could be exhausting. I once worked in the corporate world for 20 years, and I felt anxious and stressed out balancing my career and family life. As a woman, it really is not easy to straighten that out. One aspect might lack while the other would flourish. Like a saying, you can’t serve two bosses without one lagging. But, I found a solution. A way out! I found a health and wellness product that helped me have more energy, mental clarity and focus to keep up all day. And guess what? You can now serve “two bosses” concurrently. Now, I have more balance. I am a better mom and spouse, and I have more time for self-care. All this wouldn’t be possible without these natural products and the business opportunity. They really helped to heal me and my family. I am now a better version of myself!
What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
I have to highlight this. Success to me is overcoming trials and/or obstacles and being able to stay strong, have faith and learn from it. So, helping people overcome their obstacles and eventually achieving success in both their personal lives and their careers is what inspired me to be an entrepreneur.
What’s the best part about owning your own business?
The best part about owning a home base business is the joy of having the flexibility to be with my family and at the same time doing and being part of something with a bigger vision and the joy of helping people when they are struggling by showing a better way. I know what it’s like to feel like stuck and try to keep up with everything, and not take care of myself and feeling frustrated and exhausted. Solving all these problems through a well researched and established health and wellness business like Zija International is helping to improve people’s lifestyles and I feel that’s the best part. That’s the vision and mission of this business and making others feel better is the goal by sharing these products.
What impact did other people/experiences have on you, and how did they help you get to where you are in your business today?
I’d like to refer to them as the “bittersweet experiences”. I grew up in a very strict Italian family, and also have a history of mental health in my family. I know what it feels like being overwhelmed with the problem of balancing life and work. I’ve gone through the stage, I’ve experienced the pain. I know how helpless and hopeless one might feel, how drained and exhausted one might be. But I’m glad to say that these experiences served as a stepping-stone to greater heights for me. I saw beyond the pains and picked out the idea from them. These experiences geared me to seek help for myself and get better, I want to help others who are in similar shoes I have been in. These experiences were painful at first but they later turned into a mirror I used to see a better version of me. A version of me that wants to solve people’s problems. A version of me that is so grateful and happy.
What values do you believe in and live by, and how do they shine through when it comes to your role as a business owner?
I believe in problem solving and integrity. As I have mentioned earlier, I struggled to balance my family life and career. But I got the problem solved as time went on. So now, just as my problem was solved back then, I also want to return the favour. I want to be proud to say I provided help to a certain problem disturbing our general lives. As a business owner, this value cannot help but shine through. There is a problem, we solve it. It’s as simple as that. Also, to keep up a successful business, I can’t help but to be honest, to be morally upright with my customers. It is a choice to decide if you want to follow the normal moral ethics or not. To keep up integrity benefited my business and I’d always want to keep that up. It hasn’t been easy all round to attain success, no business person can say it has. But to me, success is being and growing to be better every day.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your business/being an entrepreneur?
I am most proud of my success in this business. I am proud of the accomplishment of our goals, our mission, and values. Because, this business is set to empower others, to make them healthier inside and out. When I receive positive feedback, testimonies about how I have helped someone with these products and is really a thing of joy which I can be proud of.
What does the future look like for you and your business?
This brings us to the future of my business. We make quality health and wellness products, and with the current trend nowadays, the future of the business is bright. And for me, I look forward to a better version of me. A “me” who would keep on assisting women balance their lives and careers, a “me” that would ensure a smooth and healthy lifestyle for all.
Any tips for women thinking of starting a business?
There is only one thing I’d mention here. Do not be afraid to fail. You need to move out of your comfort zone and strive hard. A lot of people find it difficult to get anything done all because of the fear of failure. You would be amazed to note that the great inventor, Thomas Edison failed a lot but wasn’t disturbed by it. He only remarked that he knows several ways that wouldn’t work. I mean, what kind of person fails over a thousand times and still is willing to try again? You ought to recall that failure has its advantages; if you fail to achieve something, you will understand the methods that won’t work. In that case, you devise a new plan, and you get the chance to have a go at something new. It is okay if you fail; the main mistake we make most occasions is our efforts to conceal our failure. It is imperative that you gain from the failure, why you failed and move on to attain success. It is necessary to note that before success can occur, we must fail. So don’t feel down, just keep striving and one day, you’ll definitely make it big.
