What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
I’ve always had a ‘gut feeling’ that I would one day be working for myself. I would day dream about it, and how it would all fall into place. With much resistance at times, fate continuously pushed me to where I needed to be.
What is your “WHY” behind your business/being an entrepreneur?
When I lived in Toronto pursuing my dance career, I developed a lot of health issues and lived purely on stress. I was in and out of doctors’ offices and still felt confused and unaware of what was going on with me. At this point, I made the conscious decision to take action and to stop giving my power away. If I wanted to get better I needed to be actively participating in getting well instead of associating my conditions with ‘who I was.’ I eventually went to school to learn Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and reconnected with my spiritual roots. I want my patients to be active in their own healing. I want them to understand how powerful their minds and bodies really are, and how each organ and symptom is part of a larger system. We all have the ability to heal ourselves we just have to remember. I am here as a guide, to help you do so.
What’s the best part about owning your own business?
I am in charge of me, I set my own hours and schedule. I went from being a professional dancer and not knowing when I would get my next gig, to working 9-5 for an insurance corporation. I knew there had to be more. So I chose to make it happen. When you are passionate about what you do, it doesn’t feel like work. I don’t mind putting in long days at the clinic. At the end of the day, I get to connect and help people. How awesome is that?!
What impact did other people/experiences have on you, and how did they help you get to where you are in your business today?
I have had so many influencers in my life; the good, the bad, and the ugly. If I am honest with myself, it was all leading me down a road of self connection and worth. I always try to reflect on situations and circumstances from a birds’ eye view, as they are never what we really think they are. For example, someone suffering from anxiety: is anxiety just anxiety, or is it more? Is it stress induced? What is causing the stress? When you dig deep, you begin wondering: are we are trying too hard to please everyone and neglecting our own truth? Our bodies will manifest physical symptoms when it has tried other ways to get our attention. I want to create a safe space for people to heal and to grow. When we are armed with the right knowledge, we can pass it forward to someone else in need.
What values do you believe in and live by, and how do they shine through when it comes to your role as a business owner?
One belief that has grown to be my biggest teacher and arch-nemesis has been consistency. I definitely have always been an ‘all in or all out’ kinda gal. The fastest person out of the gate isn’t necessarily the person who will win the marathon. Secondly, attitude. I believe my thoughts, actions, words, and emotions attract how I experience situations. Take a deep breath, and ground yourself. Thirdly, Gratitude, Gratitude, Gratitude! Be thankful for the blessings you already have in your life.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your business/being an entrepreneur?
Honestly, I think the fact that I took a leap in faith and did it. I stopped giving fear the driver seat in my life. I absolutely LOVE helping and connecting with people. I had to make the decision to stop being selfish with my excuses and realize that I need to be in full service to others.
What does the future look like for you and your business?
Goodness gracious … Having my own healing facility secluded and near a body of water. I also want to develop online courses to reach out to people who may not be able to come to the facility. I will teach people what I know and offer a place where we can connect with other like-minded people.
Any tips for women thinking of starting a business?
Your ego will give you a trillion reasons why you can’t or shouldn’t. Follow your heart. Your job is to tell the universe what you want, let the universe bring it to you. You are worthy!
Anything else you want to share?
I am absolutely astounded to see so many women stepping into their power! Having a community where we can support and lift each other up is what this world needs more of – support, kindness, and love! I am honestly blissed with finally feeling like I am aligned with my true purpose of being in service. This is just the beginning, and I cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings.
