Founder & CEO – Peekaboo Beans
The seeds of Peekaboo Beans were planted in 2006 after founder, Traci Costa, struggled with years of unexplained infertility. In 2003, Traci and her husband were blessed to conceive their first child, Cailin through in vitro fertilization. As Traci reveled in the joys of parenting for the first time, she often found herself wondering why children’s clothing was so “fussy”. With little snaps, buttons, and hard-to-use zippers, she often felt as though she was dressing an octopus. She was puzzled by her struggle to find clothing that supported children’s developmental, physical, and social requirements. She began asking other moms: “is this a common feeling?” Turns out it was! After considerable research and countless focus groups, Traci began to understand what parents wanted and thus, Peekaboo Beans was born.
While developing Peekaboo Beans, Traci endured several more in vitro fertilization attempts and welcomed another little girl, Colbie, in 2008. With two extremely playful growing girls, she soon learned the importance of “free play” in a child’s life and became a strong advocate on the topic, devoting Peekaboo Beans to be the best playwear in the world.
Passionately wanting to spread the message of play, Traci decided to steer Peekaboo Beans in a new direction. Originally selling in retail stores across Canada, Traci and her team made changes to the business model in 2010 and began to transition away from wholesale (retail boutiques) to a more unified sales force approach through the direct sales model. Wanting to have one voice, one vision, one mission – providing the ingredients for a playful life. Through an independence sales force Peekaboo Beans is able to share their message of the importance of play and provide an exceptional customer service experience for their very important beans!
The Peekaboo Beans Vine is made up of mothers across the land, some full time moms, some full time working moms from all walks of life, passionately united together to bring Peekaboo Beans to the world!
