What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
I am a mother to a 10 year old girl and a 13 year old boy. I absolutely love staying at home with my kids. Now that they are older, I felt like I needed more but still wanted to be able to spend time with them. I was introduced to Rodan + Fields in 2016 and was inspired by my own skincare results.
What’s the best part about owning your own business?
I love the flexibility! I am able to work around the other parts of my life and not miss a moment with my kids!
Can you describe a typical day?
A typical day includes getting up with my kids, and going to the gym after they leave for school. Then I come home and do some work. Afterwards, I either have a networking lunch with a potential new customer or I head to the school to volunteer. After school, I take my kids to one of their many extracurricular events. The day ends with training calls or work after the kids have gone to bed.
Who do you count on for help? Do you have a network of family that answer the call?
My husband is amazing and picks up the slack or helps with meals and transporting kids. He is an entrepreneur as well, so he understands that we work together as a team! I have a great family that is very supportive!
Have you ever had to sacrifice something at home for work? Or vice versa?
The first to go is housecleaning. Meal planning is not what it used to be either.
What do you do on a day off? Do you even know what a day off is?
Weekends are family time! I may work some evenings but I try not to!
Are you active in your community? What does supporting local mean to you?
I do a lot of volunteering at my children’s school. I also support a local charity Childcan occasionally with my proceeds. It is part of my why as it is a charity close to my heart.
Name another entrepreneur who inspires you.
Sara Clarke! She is an inspiration of positivity, proper scheduling of time and being able to do it all successfully. She is one of the reasons I joined Mompreneurs, along with being a part of a group of inspiring women.
What does the future look like for you and your business?
Success in my business with a growing team!
Any tips for other women thinking of starting a business?
Have a strong Why. There are days you will feel like giving up but your “Why” has to be stronger than your excuses!
