What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
As a child I learned early to find ways to earn money. I grew pumpkins and sold them at the end of the driveway, I asked the neighbours if they would hire me to weed gardens and I went to work with my Dad. I would do whatever it took to earn money. Over the years I began a love affair with money and found myself working in the Financial Industry climbing the corporate ladder, each year accepting a new position and promotion.
The change happened after I had my daughter in 2001. It was a high risk pregnancy and our lives were on the line. It was then that I realized that life was more than the 9 to 5 grind. My values changed and I felt that they and my integrity were constantly being tested. My priority as a Mother and daughter to an ailing Mother, were being tested over and over again until the breaking point at the end of 2012. I wanted to leave my corporate life for years previously, but was in a pattern of doubt and fear and questioned my ability to start my own business. I feared failure and wondered how on earth I could support my family losing my 6 figure income. I asked the universe and promised myself I would make the leap, but sadly, just couldn’t do it.
In 2012, I was pushed to my limits, sick and tired, I was an emotional mess and my boss turned up the heat, to the point it was impossible for me to meet the unrealistic goals he set. At one point I sat across the desk from him while he threatened my job and told him “I will do what I have to do to look after my clients and you do what you have to do”. Thank God the Universe listened because shortly after that he let me go with a severance package which allowed me to take the time to heal both physically and emotionally.
5 years later I am healthier in Mind, Body and Spirit than I have ever been. I have let go of my employee mindset, released all of my doubts, fears and personal criticism, and built a business that fulfills my soul and brings me joy each day. I have come full circle. My rediscovery of myself began as I started to train as a Co-Active Life Coach and Licensed, Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway® Trainer, which then led me to also add many colourful tools to my business. Including, Chakradance® Facilitator, Food & Spirit Practitioner, Certified NLP Coach, Time Line Therapy® Practitioner, Hypnotherapist and Tapping Into Wealth Coach. All of this on top of 30 years as a Financial Advisor, helping thousands of people with money related goals has led me to where I am today.

What’s the best part about owning your own business?
I love being in charge of my destiny! The most powerful part of owning my own business is being able to stand true to my values and integrity- honesty, transparency and connection. Being able to go with the flow, and being available to my family when they need me most. Trust me- this has been a lot over the last several years! I feel like I have finally come home not only in trusting and believing in myself but in witnessing the change in my clients.

Can you describe a typical day?
I work from home which I absolutely love.
I am up by 7am, and meditate, eat breakfast (usually Komucha and a Smoothie) and I enjoy a coffee.
I listen to something motivating while getting ready, I love Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer and Esther Hicks.
I prepare for appointments – either coaching clients or my financial planning clients.
I post on social media and respond to email. I also follow up on past client sessions to track progress, and attend networking events.
If I have a Money Magic Breakthough Session booked, then this is my whole day. My house is prepared, cleared and cleansed and a healthy lunch is prepared. I prepare myself to hold space and guide the client for our session which can run 4-6 hours.
I end the day with another Meditation (this one is a work in progress).
I make sure I take frequent stretch breaks throughout the day, especially if I am in the office all day.
My evenings are usually for reading, networking, speaking engagements (which I plan to do more of).
Who do you count on for help?
My husband, who has stood by me the last 5 years while I figured out my focus and business goals. My girlfriends, who are also in business for themselves. As well as my coach.
Have you ever had to sacrifice something at home for work? Or vice versa?
Well the housework can wait that’s for sure! LOL I recently hired a cleaner. I do not sacrifice family for work and I am very lucky in that I am able to have a flexible schedule. My health and wellness is my first priority. Followed by my family and then my clients.
I have sacrificed work in the past while I healed, while I focused on my daughter who was cutting and having mental health issues because of being bullied. As well as when my Mom passed away last year. So many lessons in love and commitment while starting a business. So many stories to share.
What do you do on a day off? Do you even know what a day off is?
Self-care is important. I love just being lazy, reading a book, walking or hiking in the forest. We have a tight social circle and will hang out together outside around the propane fire pit enjoying wine and conversation. I love to Chakradance and sing too. I am an empowerment junkie and will travel to learn. My most recent trip was to Banff to experience a week with Deepak Chopra and his program, Seduction of Spirit.
What does the future look like for you and your business?
I am launching an online program this Fall. I plan to book more speaking engagements and organize several Healing Retreats. I love my One on One work with clients and witnessing the changes. I understand my own limitations. I plan on being able to work from anywhere in the world and opening a Healing Centre somewhere near Coalmont.
Any tips for women thinking of starting a business?
Never give up, there is no failure only feedback. Sometimes its the hardest just before the breakthrough. Take stalk of your limiting beliefs and work on releasing them. The reward is worth it.
What is your “WHY” behind your business/being an entrepreneur?
I am a fierce advocate “Mama Bear” for Women who have lost themselves. I know deep down that each and every one of us is capable of achieving greatness however that looks. Each one of us deserves a joyous life and being able to stand powerfully fully rooted and clear of all our blocks.
I want to model this for my daughter to show her that life does not have to be hard. That as women we can be open and vulnerable in the feminine but also strong and powerful.
I have never felt so clear and focused, it has taken time to get here and tapping into and discovering my core strength has been my reward. 🙂
